IC Bolzano 2 is a comprehensive school in a working class district of Bolzano. The comprehensive school  includes two primary schools and a junior secondary school. The three schools have a great variety of students of different social and cultural backgrounds.

In total, there are almost 900 pupils from 6 to 14 and almost 120 teachers and other school-assistants.

Our school is extremely multicultural as it presents a very high number of foreign students coming from extra-European countries who need to learn Italian, German and English as foreign languages. There is also a considerable number of students with special needs.

South Tyrol is a special region where both Italian and German are official languages. There are separate schools for German speakers and Italian speakers – German and Italian are compulsory languages from the primary school so that students can achieve a bilingual knowledge.

In our school German is taught following the CLIL methodology which is applied to teaching science, geography, history, technology at the primary school and geography and history at the junior secondary school.

At the secondary school students dedicate two special lessons a week to study a specific area of  interest they can choose from sports, science, art and technology, Italian literature, German and English.
