CAME analysis

The challenge is for girls between 13 and 18 years old to carry out a CAME analysis (Correct Weaknesses, Face Threats or Adapt to Threats, Maintain Strengths and Exploit Opportunities) after having carried out a SWOT analysis, with the aim of strengthening their entrepreneurship and developing self-knowledge and planning from their homes.

What can I learn from this? (outcomes)

By doing this activity, girls can learn:

  • To identify specific actions to correct weaknesses and address threats that have previously been identified in the SWOT analysis.

  • To develop strategies to maintain and enhance their personal strengths and identified opportunities.

  • To plan and establish concrete and effective actions to advance their entrepreneurial projects.

How can I do this activity? Steps

Steps:

Reflecting on your CAME analysis is a critical step to ensure that the strategies and actions you have developed are not only clear but also actionable and aligned with your entrepreneurial goals. Here are some detailed tips to guide your reflection:

1. Reflect on Correcting Weaknesses:

  • Ask Yourself: Which weaknesses are the most critical for my entrepreneurial journey? Prioritize the weaknesses that could have the most significant impact on your projects.

  • Define Actions: Break down each weakness into smaller, manageable actions. For instance, if your weakness is time management, list specific steps like creating a weekly schedule or setting daily priorities.

  • Seek Feedback: Consider discussing your weaknesses with a mentor, teacher, or peer. Sometimes, external insights can provide new perspectives on how to address and improve these areas.

2. Reflect on Addressing or Adapting to Threats:

  • Evaluate Threats: Reflect on how realistic and urgent each threat is. Some threats might need immediate attention, while others could be monitored over time.

  • Strategize Adaptation: Think creatively about how you can adapt to these threats. For example, if a competitor is a threat, consider ways to differentiate your product or service to stand out.

  • Plan for Contingencies: Consider potential changes in your environment that could impact these threats. Having a plan B or C can help you stay flexible and resilient.

3. Reflect on Maintaining and Enhancing Strengths:

  • Leverage Your Strengths: Reflect on how you can use your strengths more effectively in your entrepreneurial projects. Are there new opportunities where your strengths could be a key advantage?

  • Continuous Improvement: Even if you have strengths, there is always room for growth. Identify resources, courses, or experiences that could further enhance these skills.

  • Share Your Strengths: Consider how you can use your strengths to help others in your team or community. This not only reinforces your skills but also builds a supportive network.

4. Reflect on Exploiting Opportunities:

  • Prioritize Opportunities: Not all opportunities are equal. Reflect on which ones align best with your interests, skills, and the needs of your target market.

  • Actionable Steps: For each opportunity, identify the first step you can take. Breaking it down into small, actionable tasks can make the opportunity feel more achievable.

  • Measure Impact: Consider how you will measure the success of exploiting these opportunities. What will success look like, and how will you know if you’re on the right track?

5. Implementation Reflection:

  • Create a Timeline: Reflect on the timeline for implementing your actions. What can you start doing today, next week, or next month? Having a clear timeline helps turn intentions into actions.

  • Identify Resources: Reflect on what resources (time, money, skills, people) you will need to implement each action. Are there resources you already have, or will you need to acquire them?

  • Monitor Progress: Plan to regularly review your CAME analysis and the actions you’ve taken. Set aside time weekly or monthly to reflect on what’s working, what’s not, and how you can adjust your approach.

6. Tracking and Continuous Reflection:

  • Keep a Reflection Journal: Use a journal or digital tool to document your reflections, track your goals, and note your progress. Regularly writing down your thoughts can help you stay committed and adapt as needed.

  • Celebrate Small Wins: Reflection isn’t just about identifying what needs to be fixed; it’s also about recognizing your achievements. Celebrating small wins can motivate you to keep pushing forward.

  • Adjust and Evolve: Remember that your CAME analysis is not static. As you grow and your environment changes, your strategies and actions may need to adapt. Be open to revisiting your analysis and making adjustments.
